Dogs lead police to arrest suspected robbers at Bwari

The barkings of dogs towards the direction of
suspected armed robbers on Tuesday assisted
policemen from Bwari division to track down
three suspected armed robbers, who robbed
some residents in the area.
Our reporter learnt that the robbers had
stormed Tudun Fulani area of the town during
a heavy down pour and robbed some residents
of their belongings.
A source at the division said the policemen on
patrol got wind of the operation and went to
the area, adding that some dogs were barking
continuously towards the area the robbers fled
and the police moved to the direction.
According to our source, the policemen after a
search saw the armed robbers, who were
celebrating a successful outing.
The source said they were drinking alcohol
inside a bush around Tudun Fulani area in
Bwari when the police met them.
The police source said the three suspected
armed gang confessed to the crime, saying
they chose to operate during the heavy down
pour because even if someone raised alarm
nobody would come out.
The source listed items recovered from the
suspects to include two laptops, ten handsets,
eight wristwatches, jeweleries, one iron cutter,
two knives, blood pressure measuring kit and
the sum of N5,000.
When contacted, FCT police spokesperson,
Deputy Superintendent Hyelhira Altine Daniel,
confirmed the arrest, saying the victims of the
robbery incident expressed delight over the
arrest of the suspects, who they said harassed
them throughout the night.
“It should be noted that the designer suits of
one Mr. John, who was earlier robbed on
Monday by the gang were the ones the robbers
were wearing as at the time of the arrest,” she
said.
She said investigation is still ongoing on the
incident.
