Houston police are investigating the death of a male
Nigerian passenger who died en route to Houston from
Lagos, Nigeria, on a United Airlines flight that landed in
Houston, at the George Bush IAH, Intercontinental Airport
Tuesday morning, according to the Houston Police
Department.
United Flight 143 landed around 8:25 in 2800 block of
Terminal Road. Authorities believe the victim, Nigerian native
Benedict Sylvester Igwedike, 64, died shortly after United
Airlines flight #143 departed from Lagos.
HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officer M. Miller reports
that Igwedike died in the air after the flight left Lagos.
After refueling in Dakar, Senegal, the flight was then sent
on to Houston. Houston police are awaiting autopsy results
to determine the exact cause of death, according to a
press release.
